It Ends With Us

Life hasn’t always been easy for Lily, but that hasn’t stopped her working hard to achieve the things she wants. Growing up in a small town in Maine, Lily graduates from college and makes the move to Boston where she starts her own business. When Lily meets good-looking neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, with whom she feels a romantic spark, everything in her life seems a bit too good to be true as Ryle is a man of contradictions. On the one hand he’s stubborn, assertive and even a little arrogant, yet he’s also brilliant and sensitive with a genuine soft spot for Lily. But Ryle also has a complete aversion to relationships, something Lily finds disturbing even though she is the exception to his “no dating” rule. On top of that, he has a dark side, which Lily didn’t see when they first started dating. As Lily begins to question her new relationship, she can’t stop thinking about Atlas Corrigan, her first love and a link to the past she left behind. Atlas was her soul mate and protector, and when he suddenly reappears in her life everything she has built with Ryle is threatened.

A ROMANTIC TRIUMPH

Colleen Hoover will always be one of my favorite romance authors, for the simple fact that she wrote one of my favorite books…ever!

The first thing you need to know about It Ends With Us is that it deals with the sensitive topic of domestic violence, so if that triggers you, you’d best steer clear. I thought it dealt with it beautifully and without being too painful for any reader, but still, it is a triggering topic.

The thing about Colleen Hoover’s books is that she always writes a unique beginning. Another thing is that, apparently, she can write a mean love triangle. I rarely read a true love triangle, where the main character loves both interest truly, and yet, Hoover managed it beautifully. By the end of the book I was invested in every character and crying when each of them was hurt or upset.

The main character, Lily, is a strong protagonist; she’s a modern woman, a creative entrepreneur with unique ideas about her future. One of her love interests, Atlas, was a homeless boy she helped when she was young, while the other is a successful, unhappy grown man with a dark past and an even darker present. I found Atlas, Lilly’s best friend, really lovely and I believe there was not a character in this book that I didn’t truly love and root for, even the “villain” of the story had a piece of my affection.

The thing about this book is that it will steal your heart and return it to you richer and with more feeling than you’ve ever experienced, or at least it did that with mine. This will forever be one of my favorite books of any genre. When you reach the ending, you will discover how very profound even the title is. This book deals with a heavy topic, yes, but it deals with it perfectly. Well done to the author.

I highly recommended this book to any reader, not just romance lovers.
