Originally from Limerick, Ireland, Marion Dante has lived in England since 1955. At the age of 14 she started training as a nun, becoming an aspirant in Chertsey, Surrey, and was later freed from her vows in 1991 at the age of forty-seven. Since then she has been busily playing “catch up” and is a member of the Camberley Writers’ Circle and Book Club. Marion is also a member of the National Women’s Register and attends discussion and music sessions at the Conewood branch of the Theosophy Society. Having survived breast cancer, Marion actively helps to raise funds for The Fountain Centre in The Royal Surrey Hospital, and in 2004 climbed Machu Picchu in Peru for this cause. She enjoys badminton, yoga, swimming, water aerobics, walking, guitar playing, learning Italian, art and travelling.
Marion’s book; Dropping The Habit is all about her time as a nun and why after 33 years she left her religious order.
