What is your reading ritual?
I always read in bed. Whether it’s on a break during the day or just before I go to bed, I take my kindle, or a floppy paperback, and sink into the fictional world of choice for the day. Sometimes I can read up to three books in a day, but that’s only if I speed read, which depends on the style of writing and how interested I am in the story. I used to read every single word on a page, which lead to snail-speed reading, but these days I just read the important parts, unless it’s a favorite author of mine.
What’s your favorite book/s?
That’s a very difficult question because my favorite books always change.
Let’s just say that my favorite romance book is It Ends with Us (by Colleen Hoover) and it won’t change anytime soon. No other romance book has affected me this way. I remember every single part of it, even months after reading it, and the characters really made their way into my heart. Highly recommended.
What are your most read genres?
I used to read mostly fantasy, thriller, and horror, mostly anything dark, twisted and psychological with some paranormal elements to it. Kind of like Stephen King style when he writes supernatural, but without all the superfluous detail. It’s why I like Dean Koontz, his books always have a psychological element to them.
However, these days I read mostly romance because it’s the genre I’ve been writing as well. My favorite tropes are friends to lovers, age gap, taboo, hurt/comfort, m/m, and many others.
Who is your favorite author/s and why?
My favorite author at the moment is V. E. Schwab, or Victoria Schwab. I have read half of her books and I will read the rest soon. Her stories are fascinating and her writing style is perfect for me. I also love TJ Klune, who writes magical stories as well. When it comes to romance, I love Colleen Hoover, Cara Dee, and Roe Horvath. They’re all really great authors and their stories are varied and so engaging.
How do you find new authors?
I look at book lists on Goodreads, or ask friends for recommendations.
If you could meet one fictional character, who would it be and what would you do?
I would invite Remus Lupin for coffee. Maybe I’ll also invite him back to my place.
What’s your favorite part about Read2Write?
My favorite part is how easy it is to find new books. Not only are there categories but also related books next to the books you liked, so you can try something new.
