LOUISE SAUVAGE: My Story

Recognised as one of the most celebrated disabled athletes in Australia’s sporting history, Louise Sauvage is a record-breaking wheelchair racer who has won nine gold and four silver medals at four Paralympic Games (Barcelona, Sydney, Atlanta & Athens). She has also taken eleven gold and two silver medals at three IPC Athletics World Championships and is the winner of four Boston Marathons. Not bad for a woman whose international career started at the tender age of sixteen! Now retired, Louise’s many honours include Female Athlete of the Year, in the Sport Australia Awards (2000) and World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability at the first Laureus Sports Awards.
