Mark Zupan was a college soccer star whose life was changed by a vehicle accident. His best friend was driving a pick up truck, where Mark was passed out in the back, when it spun out of control and threw him into a canal, trapping him in the water for fourteen hours. When Mark was rescued his doctors told him he had broken his neck and would probably spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. He refused to accept the prognosis and fought to recover his mobility, but when the reality sank in that he would never walk again, Mark became angry and depressed and retreated from the world and those closest to him. It was love, friendship and a new sport, quad rugby (also known as murderball), that would ultimately save him. GIMP is the no holds barred memoir of an inspiring man who journeyed his way from the depths of despair to bronze and gold medals at the 2004 and 2008 summer Paralympic Games.
