There are so many books being published every month, and sometimes it feels like we can get lost in the madness. One good approach is to only read books by authors you like, but what about undiscovered gems by fantastic authors you haven’t discovered yet? There are many ways to discover wonderful new books to read, and I’m going to tell you about my favorite ones.

Let’s find new books to read!

Booktok

Every social media platform has its own book community. Instagram has bookstagram, twitter has booktwitter, youtube has booktube, etc. As the newest and biggest emerging social media platform, TikTok has its own book community, and that is called Booktok.

Did you know that millions of readers find new books through booktok? Did you also know that some unknown books blow up thanks to booktok and even get book deals or become bestsellers? It’s been widely known that teenagers go to BookTok for book recommendations, and as a result, book sales have gone up thanks to booktok influencers.

If you just go to tiktok and search for booktok or book recommendations, you’ll find all kinds of videos and hashtags that you can follow and find your next favorite read. You can do the same thing searching for the relevant keywords and hashtags on any social media platform.

Book reviewers

There are book reviewers on every single platform and book site. You can search for book bloggers for your favorite genres or go to a big site that only deals with a specific genre (like Romance.io) and follow their updates, or you can go to social media and find reviewers there.

I personally enjoy following book reviewers on Youtube because I enjoy watching the reviewer talk about the book, rather than just reading the review. In time, I have made myself a list of my favorite book reviewers, and I follow them religiously. (Like ReadWithRachel and others.)

You can also find reviewers on Goodreads and follow them there!

Goodreads book lists

One thing I have always done when I want to find a new favorite read is go to Google and search for ‘genre trope goodreads books’. In the results, you’ll get the top Goodreads lists of the books you’re looking for, and people have voted on them, so you can bet those lists will help you determine which books to start with. So if I look for ‘mm romance hurt comfort goodreads books’, I’m going to come out with exactly that genre and trope book recommendations from the Goodreads community.

Try it, it’s super easy, and I have found some of my favorite books this way.

Bookbub

My next favorite place to find books from is Bookbub because it’ll show you the books that are currently discounted. So if you’re on a budget – because you’ve been buying too many books, we’ve all been there – you can go on Bookbub and looks for the discounted or free books in the genre you like.

It’s also great for discovering new books by famous authors and indie authors alike.
