Catch the Rabbit

Sara hasn’t seen or heard from her childhood best friend, Lejla, in years. In that time, she has built a comfortable life for herself in Dublin with her partner, their avocado plant, and naturist neighbour. But when Lejla phones demanding that she comes home to Bosnia, Sara finds it impossible to refuse. Cue the start of a road trip that evolves into a journey through the past as the two women set off to find Lejla’s brother Armin, who disappeared towards the end of the Bosnian War. Although everyone else thinks he’s dead, they’re convinced he’s still alive. As she’s confronted by the limits of memory, Sara is forced to reconsider what she thought she understood as a girl, including the best friend she loved, the first experiences they shared, and the social/religious lines that separated them.
