“I really enjoyed reading this story. It was short and fast-paced and mysterious. It had moments that made me shudder and close my eyes, hoping it goes away.”

This little novella is truly terrifying. There are no overt horrific scenes, but there is the constant feeling of a fever dream where you’re not sure what is real and what is not. As you keep reading, you keep asking questions, and toward the end, you realize this is a twisted retelling of… I won’t spoil it for you.

I really enjoyed reading this story. It was short, fast-paced, and mysterious. It had moments that made me shudder and close my eyes, hoping it goes away. It had moments that made me hope… and gasp… and everything else you expect from a horrific fever dream novella.

From the start, I thought this would be something else. I guessed that it was one thing, but it ended up being something else. I was partly right, but partly wrong. I really think it’s written very well and the clues are sprinkled all over, but never enough for you to know the full story before it’s time. At the end, when I heard the whole explanation, I was truly disgusted at the truth. Not because it was physically disgusting, but because of the whole idea of it. Feminists will understand when reading this.

In the end, I am very much impressed by this story. I’ll check if the author has written anything else. She uses purple prose, but in this case, it was enjoyable and it added to the effect.

If you like fast reads, dark retellings, and fever dreams, this is the one.
