Claire Latham

Erin and the Mouse

Erin is a girl who in real life can’t walk, talk, or use her hands because of severe cerebral palsy suffered at birth. Her only reliable movement is in her eyes. Author Clair Latham was asked by Doctor Mick Donegan, founder of the charity SpecialEffect, to build a special communications system with Erin which was achieved with the help of her Mum and a dedicated teaching assistant. The result is a series of delightful tales, told in Erin’s own words, that show her incredible sense of fun and which inspired Claire to write these stories from their shared experiences.

“A truly astonishing book dedicated to children who cannot speak and which, through subtle, powerful messages, encourages them to never give up and to share their stories with a world that wants to hear them.”
