Surrey author R.C. Sherriff came to fame with his World War 1 drama Journeys End, which was based on his experiences as an officer on the Western Front. Its success opened the door to a career as a novelist, playwright, and screenwriter in Hollywood and Britain. Many of his movies, including The Dam Busters and Goodbye Mr Chips, are well known to this day although much less is known about the man behind them. This book rediscovers Sheriff from his letters, diaries, and manuscripts.
