Twelve year old Adam Ryan is playing in the woods with his two best friends. He never sees them again. Adam is found with his back pressed against an oak tree and his shoes filled with blood. He has no memory of what happened and the bodies of the two boys are never found. Twenty years later, Rob Ryan – the one who came back – is a detective in the Dublin police force.
