The Barnabus Project

In a world of perfect pets, Barnabus is a failed project. Half mouse, half elephant, and hidden out of sight, he’s kept in a secret lab where “perfect” creatures are engineered. Barnabus has never been outside his bell jar, but dreams of the world above ground, a world that Pip the cockroach tells him has trees, hills, buildings, and stars. But time is running out as Barnabus is in danger of being recycled. Being true to himself means realising his dream of finding freedom and that needs to happen sooner rather than later. With his little trunk and some help, Barnabus and his friends embark on a dangerous journey to a place where they might finally be accepted.

“This is such a magical story about being yourself and finding a place where you belong. It draws the reader into a surreal, detailed world where people can just be themselves. A moral warning against perfection. Great for kids and adults alike.”
