The Ensemble

Four friends – Jana, Brit, Daniel, and Henry. They would have never been friends, except they needed each other. They would have never found each other, except art brought them together. They would have never become a family, if not for their love of music. Brit plays the violin; she is beautiful and quiet. Henry plays the viola; he is a prodigy who always had it easy. Daniel plays the cello; he is angry, a skeptic, and he sleeps around. Jana is first violin; she is the resilient leader. Together they are the Van Ness Quartet. After the group’s rocky start, they experience failure and success, heartbreak and marriage, victory and loss, betrayal and loyalty. They will always be tied together – by career, by their art, by secrets, by choosing each other over and over. Follow these four as they make it through all the highs and lows of concert music, ambition, and always, friendship.

“This is an absolutely breath-taking and addictive book about the cuttthroat world of music and the consequences of youthful ambition. It’s about friendship and betrayal, love and secrets, and everything in between. It spans a long time and it’s simply delicious.”
