Will Taylor

The Language of Seabirds

Jeremy spends the summer with his dad and uncle in a seaside cabin in Oregon. It’s the first time he’s been away since his parents’ divorce, and he doesn’t feel excited about the prospect of some alone time with his dad! On the first day of his vacation, Jeremy goes for a walk on the beach and spots Evan, a boy his own age, running nearby. What starts out as a friendship gradually turns into a sweet, tender romance that neither boy was expecting but which both were secretly hoping for.

“If you’re a fan of the Netflix series Heartstopper, this touching story of teenage young love might be just up your street. It’s not only well written but it weaves discussions on family and toxic masculinity into the narrative. A recommended read for young people who enjoy stories with leagues of emotion and heartwarming sensitivity, or anyone who enjoys reading queer literature.”
