The Uninvited

First published in 1942 and made into a successful Hollywood movie two years later, The Uninvited is the story of siblings Roderick and Pamela Fitzgerald who turn their backs on London for a life along the beautiful but stormy Devon coastline. They’re ultimately drawn to Cliff End, a suspiciously inexpensive property which the locals regard as a place of ill omen and disturbance. After a while the Fitzgeralds unravel the mystery of Cliff End’s past including the deaths of Mary Meredith and another strange young woman. Only Roderick and Pamela can stop young Stella, who was raised in the house as a baby, from returning to the nursery where something waits to tuck her in at night!
