If you’re looking for a good thriller with a lot of twists, this is a good one.
While I personally found the writing too slow and repetitive, I do recognize that it was an entertaining read that I couldn’t put down. I guessed some of the twists, but not all of them, and it was interesting until the end. Naomi reminds me of the main character in Sharp Objects: a woman who’s been through too much and who has a sleuth of bad habits to cope with the trauma of just being alive.
The romantic subplot was okay, the ending was okay. I think my problem with this book was that it’s mostly like every other thriller I have read. Nothing extraordinary or different. It’s the usual ‘woman goes back to small town to face her childhood trauma’ trope. Good enough for 3 stars, though.
I recommend it if you like wondering WHO did WHAT when there are so many characters in a cast where everyone eventually looks suspect, even though you could swear they were innocent when you started the story. More twists than a murder mystery.
Almost forgot – I appreciated the main character was bisexual.
