Founded in 1927, Gollancz started out as a publisher of high-quality literature, non-fiction and popular fiction including mystery and detective novels. After the death of founder Victor Gollancz, the company’s ownership went to his daughter Livia who later sold the business to US publisher Houghton Mifflin. Gollancz was again sold to Cassell & Co. Cassell and its parent company Orion were acquired by Hachette and in 1998 the merged entity, Orion/Cassell group, turned Gollancz into its science fiction/fantasy imprint. Gollancz’s acclaimed authors include Ben Aaronovitch, Douglas Adams and Lynsey Sands.

Juliette Foster is a journalist and co-founder of Read2Write. She wrote and illustrated her first novel when she was nine and although she doesn’t remember much about the story, the improbability of the plot was enough to make anyone who read it burst out laughing. Juliette’s ambition is to read every single book in her massive collection before her one hundredth birthday.
