A Body at the Tea Rooms: A Kate Palmer Mystery (Book 3)

Kate Palmer likes nothing more than tucking into cake washed down with a cup of tea and she’s counting the days to when her sister Angie will complete the renovation of her tea rooms. However the work is derailed when a body is found in the cellar!  Gossips in the village of Lower Tinworthy claim the dead man was connected to the wealthy Hedgefield family. At first Kate is wary of getting involved in the investigation but changes her mind when she spots a curious card in the victim’s jacket and as rumours spread that Angie is involved in the mystery. Determined to clear her sister’s name and unravel the case, Kate teams up with handsome retired police detective “Woody” Forrest. After quizzing the locals, she realises that the Hedgefields, who live in a huge mansion and own half the village, are not as perfect as they’d like everyone to think. Not only are they hiding a long-buried family secret, but a number of people have a grudge against them including some ex-employees. So, who could have murdered a member of the community’s most envied family? Was it the gardener? The sweet natured cook? Or the embittered maid? Then, just as Kate is on the verge of cracking the case, Angie disappears!

“A wonderful murder mystery with enough red herrings to keep a fisherman busy. Best enjoyed over a cup of tea and a plate of scones.”
